How to Make the Pinterest Charcuterie Board

Everyone knows how difficult it is to resist the perfect charcuterie board sitting in front of you at the event you are at. Here’s a basic how to be the guest of the night who brought said charcuterie board!

Pick your surface

The key to starting out your perfect board is the surface. Consider the size of your event, for a date night, a small try will do, for a large party consider making a spread on a large cutting board or even an entire table surface. You can find boards of any size at any local home decor store, online, or get creative and use something already available in your home!

Choose a theme

This next step is entirely optional but can make the process feel more manageable. When walking into the grocery store and contemplating what kinds of fruits, meats, cheeses and extras you’re going to get, the process can seem daunting and you may end up spending a fortune. If you choose a theme based on anything from what you are celebrating, the time of year, or something as simple as a color scheme, the shopping feels a lot more doable and faster.

Select your cheeses

Once again, this depends on your personal preferences or if you are more adventurous. If you have your few favorites, stick to those! Otherwise, a good baseline selection can be something solid and easy to cut into shapes, like a merlot or havarti, something easy to spread, like goat cheese or brie, and something traditional, like swiss or cheddar. You will also want to be sure you have the proper knives for cutting and serving.

Select your meats

Adding some variety to your meat selection can help add shape and texture to your board. Making a rose out of salami or pepperoni will be sure to impress your guests and is a very simple task that gives your board a professional look. Prosciutto is another meat that traditionally pleases guests.

Add some pizzaz

This is the part that can feel difficult if you do not have a theme you’re sticking to. At the same time, this is also something you can save a lot of money on just by looking at what is in your own pantry. You can use anything from jelly’s, your favorite dips or humus, to candy, fruit, or vegetables.
