Riverfront Dining

Louisville may be known to many as the Bourbon Capital of the world, to others as the home of the Kentucky Derby, but to many locals it is known for the gorgeous restaurant views on the Ohio River. Here are some of our favorite spots to dine when looking for the best place to watch a sunset, sailboat regatta, or see some of the finest yachts in the area.

River House Restaurant and Raw Bar

River House is located on River Road and known to be Louisville’s premier restaurant for riverfront dining. Opened as Chef John Veranese’s second restaurant, what sets Varanese apart from his competitors is his quality meals at a low cost which he is able to do by sourcing a lot of his ingredients from local farmers. River House has both indoor and outdoor dining as well as a Wine Room and event space called Savor.

Levee Bourbon Lounge

Levee Bourbon Lounge was also opened by Chef Veranese and known to be a chic riverfront lounge for bourbon lovers and small dishes. “We wanted to create an experience for our guests. You have the lounge side where you can sit, have a cocktail and relax on the newly upholstered couches, banquets, leather chairs and bourbon tables. The other half you can actually sit down and have a meal from River House’s menu.” Chef John Varanese, owner of River House, Savor, Levee Bourbon Lounge and Varanese

Captains Quarters Riverside Grille

Known for their Kentucky Hot Brown, Fish Sandwich, and Captains Lemonade, Captains Quarters is a go to destination for any occasion. Host a party in one of their 5 party spaces, or a trip on the CQ Princess for a ride, dinner, and fun for a large event. Enjoy your meal by a bar, inside or out, on the patio overlooking Harrods Creek, or inside the air conditioned dining room. If you show up and there’s a wait, grab a drink and an Adirondack chair and take a seat in the lawn to watch some of the finest boats and yachts in the Louisville area make their way in or out from the river.

Bearnos By the Bay

You can never go wrong with a slice of New York style pizza, especially when it has views of Limestone Bay Yacht Club on one side, and a beautiful sunset on the other. Head to Bearnos for a casual night with friends or family and you’re sure to make some wonderful memories here.
